In my PhD I studied rat neurons and mouse brain slices. Now I mostly work with human cells because they are much easier to obtain and much easier to manipulate (which means experiments are easier and faster to do!). However occasionally I do use rat neurons!
PhD stands for Doctor of Philosophy. It’s a postgraduate, 3 year qualification in the UK. When you have a PhD you get a doctorate and you can be called Dr (but it’s not a medical doctor)!
