      Yes, it is possible. Scientists use genetically modified animals in research, for example, to use as a disease model. Or you could genetically modify an animal to resist disease, depending on what you’re researching. There are a few ways to do this. One of them is to inject a DNA sequence containing the mutation into a mouse embryo, where it will randomly insert itself into the genome.

      Genetically modified humans are ethically troubling. Recently though, the UK has given permission to allow one research group to genetically modify human embryos. This is only to learn more about human embryonic development and the embryos are not allowed to be brought to term (i.e. we will not have genetically modified babies).
