One of my favourite things about being a scientist is knowing that I’m probably the ONLY person in the world working on my research idea! Scientists end up specialising in certain fields, so while I might say I’m a cell biologist working in Alzheimer’s disease, I’m actually working on specific protein interactions under certain conditions. There’s a good chance that no one else is working on the same thing, and that feeling is really special when you publish experimental results that you are an expert in!
