I definitely had science classes since I was very young – I remember collecting water samples while hiking the Hong Kong countryside for an experiment. But the most vivid memory I have is from eye dissection – I think we were 14 years old. We had to acquire our own cow’s eyes from the butchers and I brought it to school the next day in a plastic bag. It was revolting but also bizarrely interesting. Surprisingly, I enjoyed the dissection and learning about what was inside, I just couldn’t stand the smell!

Now I’ve done so many brain dissections I’m very used to it.

The first I recall was filtering sand and water using filter papers in primary school when I was 9.
