I want to create a webcomic that is about a kid trying to become a scientist. It would address the barriers of becoming a scientist in a funny, dry humour sort of way. I want it to inspire students to be scientists, and also make teachers/parents around them aware of how they can be supportive of a scientific mind.
I particularly wanted it to be a webcomic because it can be accessible to anyone with an internet connection, not just one class or school! Plus I used to read a lot of webcomics myself 🙂
I am trying to negotiate access to the platform here to run regular chats on food science. I have agreement from the top people at the Food Standards Agency and a meeting arranged with the techies. If I need to find some other money to do this ( as £500 is not enough) I am happy to find somewhere to get it from! Maybe I should also be pushing the government scientist point too – there are hundreds if not thousands of us across all kinds of departments!
The flight model of our optical bench (laser ruler) is 1.5 million km away. We have a spare, but are not allowed to move it anywhere [myimage5], so I’d like to have models made of the optical bench, the LPF spacecraft, and the LISA spacecraft so we can take them to schools and science festivals and explain how they work.
