      I agree with evolution as a scientific theory, but I wouldn’t say I believe in it – that makes it sound like it’s not fact. But in fact we have overwhelming evidence for evolution. One can either accept it or deny it, but evolution is a real phenomenon, no matter what you believe. Just like people used to believe the earth was flat, we know it’s not!

      Evolution has occurred, yes. We can trace the evolution of many living things including humans over time. We can even trace how genes have changed over time in different organisms using evolutionary trees (more technically called phylogenetic trees – there’s a whole speciality built around it!).

      There have been numerous theories of evolution, the most famous being Charles Darwin in the 19th Century but also Lamarck’s theory (characteristics used more and more by an organism become bigger and stronger).

      Yes, although there is evidence that it happened which is different from believing whether it happened or not!

      As the others have said, there is lots of good evidence for evolution having occurred, so it is not a case for belief, but of looking at the evidence.
