• Question: How long does it take the cells to grow in the dish?

      I usually grow them in flasks that have an area of 75cm^2. So if I take a frozen vial of cells and thaw them in the flask, they’ll usually fill it up by 3-4 days. I also have to keep feeding them fresh media. When the flask is full, I will use some of the cells for experiments, but I take a portion of the cells to grow in a new, empty flask – this is called splitting/passaging and this is how we keep the cells growing for weeks to months!
