I still don’t think I am a scientist, haha. I’ve been working in a lab though for 6 years in total? That includes working at the 1 year in the NHS, 1 year working in industry, 1 year for my Masters and now studying for my PhD. Does that count? Even though I am technically a student, I do research and have my own project!

I’ve been working in a lab since 2009, so if you call that as being a real scientist, then I’ve been a scientist for 7 years! I started working in labs as my undergraduate research project in my final year in 2009, then it was my MSc, then PhD, then my job now. 🙂 I think I considered myself a ‘real’ scientist when I properly started my PhD, because it was my research project and my own ideas!

Oh, so this is where you get to realize how old I am. If we start with a PhD then that was 3 years, and a 1 year post doc and another couple of years in a commercial science lab. Then I have been at the Food Standards Agency since 2001. So half of my lifetime – and certainly much longer than your ages!
