• Question: Is the brain delicate? Is that why there are so many bones protecting it?

      That’s a really good question! Your brain is pretty delicate, so that’s why you have a rock hard skull protecting it. In addition to bone, there’s also a layer of membrane called the meninges that protect the brain. On top of that, your brain is surrounded by a liquid called cerebrospinal fluid, which cushions your brain from your skull. Imagine some jelly that is encased by a helmet – the jelly would smash into the inside of the helmet every time you moved it! That’s why we have the fluid surrounding the brain to help cushion the impact.
