No I would say I was kind of in the middle of the class, chemistry I slightly excelled at compared to biology and physics but I got C grades in sciences at GCSE so do not worry if you are not top of the class.
I was probably in the top 5 of my class in chemistry, but it didn’t come that easily to me – I had to study a lot to get good grades! Physics was more of a struggle. I did get decent grades in the end but it was a tough year of studying. And I never took biology!
I remember explaining Hookes Law to a friend just before a physics exam and being a bit gutted when we were joint top! I was often top for the bits of biochemistry I just understood and I worked hard to make sure that my maths was up to it – in my view maths is important for science. This was in my degree.
Now I rarely get marks and when I do I usually aim to pass. But this is because of time constraint and it is rarely science!
No, I was average! I struggled with Physics and had to work really hard at Chemistry. Even in biology, I only really liked the genetics – I really didn’t like learning about plants! I did get 3 As at GCSE, but they weren’t my best subjects!
I didn’t take Chemistry or Physics A level either, only Biology and Maths. My marks for the biology modules ranged from A – C, depending on which paper. I got a C in the Ecology module I think!
