The most interesting part of being a scientist is always doing something different every day! I have a different schedule every day and I’m always learning new things. It keeps me from being bored!

The different jobs you do as a scientist – I’m a learner, researcher, teacher, public speaker and writer! Additionally, experiments change from week-to-week so work is never boring. I teach undergraduates in their practical classes, go into schools to teach children from ages 8 – 18 about science, learn new techniques to study mitochondria, write research papers publishing our results and go to conferences to present my research findings. There aren’t a lot of jobs that can do all of that!
