Hmm, maybe for my dissertation I came up with the idea of observing the formation of liquid (water) bridges between particles when I was mixing tablets. I had no idea how I would do this apart from I read about these bridges forming theoretically and I had never seen evidence they actually existed, it was only a theory. So I thought out of the box and came up with using an electron microscope (a microscope that can look at the smallest things) and randomly sampled the tablet mixture and analysed it. I did see the bridge formations at the different time points of granular growth and observed a successful hypothesis (hypothesis is an outcome of an experiment you want) .
