      Most media contain a pH indicator. As glucose is used up, the media becomes more acidic. I’m using a media at the moment called DMEM (Dulbecco’s Modified Eagle Medium) that changes from red to yellow once all the glucose has been used up. I change the media on my cells when they are orange, as if the media has turned yellow it means that they are starving!
