I think one of the worst brain diseases is amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), or motor neuron disease. It affects the nerve cells in your brain that control your movement, which results in the brain being unable to signal to your muscles. It begins with muscle weakness and it is fatal, usually within a few years. Stephen Hawking has ALS as well, only he has a super rare form of it that hasn’t seemed to affect his lifespan. It’s a terrible disease because there is no cure, and the only drug available increases lifespan by up to 3 months. It’s a rare disease, but it’s devastating for both the patient and their loved ones around them.
