• Question: where does the soul live

      This is quite a spiritual question! As a scientist, I only look at the physical state rather than the mental/spiritual state. Different religions have different beliefs about the soul, including what happens to it after death. Wikipedia has summarised the soul very well in the article below, including the different religious beliefs:

      That’s dependent on if you believe in a soul or not! I think unless someone can come up with a way to test whether people have souls or not, we would assume that our biology makes up our entity, including things that people would attribute to souls, e.g. personality, memories, habits. I think our soul = our DNA.

      I guess for me the soul – whilst not really a scientific entity is part of us that balances fact and acceptability. So for me it is in our conscious.

      There is a lot we don’t understand about how the brain works, including how consciousness works.

      Even if we understood consciousness, the question of a soul – whether it exists and where it lives if it does exist – is an even more complicated question, that science can’t currently answer, and may never be able to.
