• Question: why do we burp

      When we eat or drink, we normally swallow in air as well. As the food gets digested and travels down our oesophagus into our stomach, the air gets pushed back up and comes out as the form of a burp. Its the body’s way of getting rid of the unwanted gases in the air. If you have fizzy drinks, then you take in more gas so you tend to burp more. Also, if you eat your food too fast then you are more likely to take in more air and therefore burp more!

      Christie has a good answer. I have a friend who can make himself burp by swallowing air. I’ve tried it…it’s not very comfortable.

      Yep, to remove air from the digestive tract. Bet you can guess the other way of doing this.
